My Values

Do you ever look at something and think; "Why are things still like that?". That's what I thought when I learnt about bonded slave labour and heard about the Rana Plaza disaster. And it ran through my head again when I learnt that fashion is the second most polluting industry after the oil industry.

 Pretty much my exact expression

So, what am I going to do about it? Well, seeing as you asked, here are my 4 wee principles;

Eco-friendly

I aim to be an eco-friendly designer sourcing fabrics and components locally to reduce impact on the environment caused by shipping and using organic or alternative fabrics (e.g. bamboo, hemp) where possible and using recyclable or biodegradable packaging to reduce my company's envionmental impact.

Against Animal Cruelty

I will aim to use vegan leather or pleather where possible, any leather I do use will be from the meat industry and not an industry where an animal has been killed for it's skin (fur or exotic skins).

Promote Positive Body Image

I will not use unhealthy models or create clothes for unrealistic sizes and will focus on models who are a healthy weight and body size to encourage positive body image. I will also not discriminate against models of colour or with disabilites.

Ethical Trade, Human rights and Fair trade

Any manufacturers I use will abide by ethical trade rules to ensure workers get a good, fair wage and lifestyle and do not use slave or bonded labour.
